Philippine Musculoskeletal Tumor Society

This depicts a Filipinized version of the orthopaedic tree, THE BAMBOO, arising in response to the problem of cancer, symbolized by the crab.

The eight (8) branches of the bamboo symbolize both the 8 Founding Members and the multidisciplinary approach to musculoskeletal tumors (orthopaedic oncology; medical, pediatric, and radiation oncology; musculoskeletal pathology; reconstructive team; anesthesia and pain medicine; rehabilitation medicine and psychiatry; oncologic nursing; and the social work and support group).

Four (4) external fixation pins hold the femur to the tree, the proximal femur of which is host bone and the distal portion of which consists of an allograft and a tumor prosthesis, with the tibial spike of the prosthesis piercing the crab.

To the left of this construct are letters in old Filipino script (alibata or baybayin) representing P-M-T-S.
